Purpose To explain the thoughts that went into our USB Hub Mounting bracket design with accompanying visuals
Background - to design a new mounting bracket using additive manufacturing that can hold a 7 -port USB hub vertically and hold the necessary cables in place under excessive vibrations
Sponsor – Lockheed Martin
Project Description -hold 7 -port hub -mount vertically -have a new cable retention bar -survive excessive vibrations
Procedures (1 of 2) -Collaborated ideas in order to minimize the part count -Drafted the ideas on paper to help iron out kinks
Procedures (2 of 2) - Used Solidworks to create actual parts - Used Makerbot software to push ideas towards assembly
Results and Discussion -Total parts: 27 15 -Hook locking mechanism proved super effective -Tracks necessary for hook system
Conclusions and Recommendations ✔ hold 7 -port hub ✔ mounts vertically and horizontally ✔ have a new cable retention bar ✔ survive excessive vibrations ✔ reduces part count ✔ aesthetically pleasing
