Locating Your EPA ID Number The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality require generators of hazardous waste to utilize a 12 digit EPA Identification Number to track hazardous waste from the point of generation to final disposal. This EPA ID number is unique to each U-M building or series of buildings within predetermined campus zones and can be referenced by building name in the list below. This EPA ID number must be entered on all hazardous waste manifests and container labels at the time the waste is generated.
