LO: TO WRITE EFFECTIVE SENTENCES FOR OUR POSTCARD.
SENTENCE STACKING • Today and tomorrow we are going to do some sentence stacking in preparation for writing your own postcard. • Follow the structure carefully to try to ensure that you have plenty of practise of what is going to be expected of you. • Make sure you fill your vocabulary vault with as much language as you possibly can
LEARNING CHUNK 1 • Informal – chatty style: • What might have happened to Goldilocks in prison? • Activities – free time, jogging, talking, chatting • Inmates – Jill (from Jack and Jill), a wicked witch, big bad wolf. • Food – bread, water, potatoes • Hi Mum, you’ll never guess who I met during my free time (yes, we do get it!). It was none other than Jill – you know, the one who threw Jack down the hill?
LEARNING CHUNK 2 • Pun • Key points in Goldilocks story • Play on words linking part of story to prison: • Doors that are always locked • Uncomfortable chairs or beds • Inconsistent quality of the porridge • Yesterday, I had the worst meal ever. First, it was too hot, then it was too cold. After my third complaint, it was finally just right.
LEARNING CHUNK 3 • Use of dash • Remember practising this before half term. • Use it for a pause for effect. • What could Goldilocks be doing in prison for rehabilitation? • Cookery; • Sewing; • Painting • My plan of action tomorrow is that, as part of my rehabilitation, I’ve been signed up for a cookery course – fingers crossed, I learn something.
