*Emotional abuse is a non-physical behaviors that affect a person such as threats, insults, constant monitoring or “checking in, ” excessive texting, humiliation, intimidation, isolation or stalking. *
* 1 in 3 women is likely to be abused by a partner. * 20% men and 30% women have been abused by a partner. * More than 20% of teenagers report having experienced psychological or physical violence. * 11% of older people say they have experience violence. * 63% of victims will seek psychological help. * 32. 5% have self-mutilated. * 50% of victims have had a suicide attempt. * For every person that commits suicide, there a minimum of 100 suicide attempts. *
*People that have been victims of emotional abuse suffer psychological problems, financial difficulties, and some of them commit suicide. *
* In the short term can suffer from anxiety, feeling powerless, ashamed, undesirable, manipulated, or used. In the long term, they can feel depressed, trapped, have an extreme dependence on others, and the inability to trust. * Victims of emotional abuse do not take care of themselves because they think they are worthless, so they are more likely to get STDs, get pregnant or consume alcohol and drugs *
It is difficult for emotional abuse victims to keep their jobs that would make it more difficult to support them and get psychological treatment causing more stress. *

For every young person that commits suicide, there a minimum of 100 suicide attempts. Victims of abuse are more likely to commit suicide. *
*Does your partner put you down or make you feel ashamed? *Are you afraid of your partner's temper? *Does your partner keep you from seeing friends and/or family? *Does your partner withhold money from you? *Has your partner ever hit or pushed you? *Has your partner ever forced you to have sex? *Has your partner threatened you, your children or your family? *
*In conclusion, I can say that emotional abuse has negative effects on the victims. This affects them in so many ways psychologically, financially and physically. Some of them would feel sad, feel helpless, and get depressed; they will change their behavior, and some of them might self-mutilate or commit suicide. Even though, many studies have proven how emotional abuse affects people, we need to do more to protect, prevent, and inform especially younger people, so they can know the different between a healthy and unhealthy relationship. *
