Body An astronaut’s body works differently without gravity. l Their inner ears will send confusing signals l bone loss l kidney stones l muscle atrophy l shrinking heart l fluids shift upwards
Body Since astronauts don’t walk they lose lower body strength. l They have to exercise daily in order to have any lower back and leg muscles left when they get back to Earth. l Their bone mass decreases from lack of use. l
Body l l l Since there is no gravity in space all the fluid in an astronaut’s body shifts upward. This includes their blood and water that’s in their body. As a result their face puffs up and they have sinuses congestion.
Cleanliness Astronauts have to clean themselves and the spaceship around them. l It can be difficult but people have come up with creative ways to do it. l
Cleanliness To wash their hair astronauts squirt water directly onto their scalp. l Then the use no rinse shampoo so they don’t need more water. l They also use no rinse soap to wash their bodies. l
Cleanliness To clean the spaceship astronauts do a variety of different things: l Wipe down surfaces with wipes l Put trash in specific containers l Pick up floating objects with vacuum
Interesting Facts Astronauts see a sunrise sixteen times a day. l Astronaut’s body looks cartoonish with small legs and waist and a overly large upper body. l They must strap yourself in to be able to sleep without bumping into things. l
Interesting Facts Astronaut’s only change their clothes every three days because they don’t go outside. l Astronauts can grow up to two inches without the pressure of gravity on their spine. l Space food can cause flatulence. l
