Living Godly in an Ungodly Land Be Decisive
Living Godly in an Ungodly Land Be Decisive
A stormy night in Henderson, TN We had to be decisive because of the strong wind What did we do? ….
There are times when something happens quickly and it doesn’t give us much time to decide Think about temptation (I Peter 5: 8) Think about trials (James 1: 2) Think about time (James 4: 14)
• Daniel chapter 2 is filled with decisive moments • The king makes a quick decision not to give the “wise men” more time (2: 8) • Arioch made the swift decision to tell Daniel what was going on (2: 15) • Daniel makes the deliberate decision to save his life and the life of others • Many times we must be decisive to live faithfully under troubling times
Be decisive with your resources • The king’s decree to have all “wise men” killed (2: 13) • Daniel didn’t expect or planned for this • “Then with counsel and wisdom” (2: 14) • Daniel applied knowledge and wisdom from God for an unexpected moment • Are we aware of the spiritual reservoir available to us?
Be decisive with your response • What do you do when information about you is revealed? • Daniel decisively goes to the king (2: 16) • Daniel was open and honest by asking for time • What if Daniel never went to the king? • Our life is going to have some tough decisions to make
Be decisive in your reverence • It seems that reverence is lacking, especially with God • Reverence is the reason we are involved in the service • Daniel told his friends and they went to God seeking mercies from Him • Daniel receives the answer and he blesses God • Daniel was not about Daniel • God is pleased when we show the reverence He deserves
Be decisive when it comes to your resource from God, your response because of God, and your reverence for God
