Living End After Amonkhet
Stock Build of Living End
What is the Plan? Stock your graveyard full of cheap efficient creatures with cycling. Cast a spell with Cascade, cascade into Living End puts all creatures in the graveyard into play under their owner's control while also removing currently in play creatures. Set up properly the game is over soon after thanks to your commanding board position.
Creatures in the deck can be split into a few categories, Cycling Creatures, Mana Disruption, and Utility. Mana Disruption is usually in the form of Fulminator Mage, but can also be Avalanche Riders. Utility is the speed from Simian Spirit Guide and the Graveyard hate of Faerie Macabre. Shriekmaw also kills creatures cheaply with Evoke.
Cycling Creatures Cyclers range from those that are free to cycle, or cost one mana, or the two mana cyclers that actually get a land instead. Street Wraith trades life as a cycling cost, whereas the two mana cyclers help fix your mana. The one mana cyclers in the deck have a hybrid mana cost to pay for cycling which is a bit easier on the mana. Architect seems weak but is subtle.
Spells Cascade Spells: Outbust is an instant, and Dread a Sorcery, both can be used to win the game without Living End: The reason the deck exists. Suspend is expensive and can lead to awkward draws. Beast Within: Deals with problem cards and leaves a target for your copies for Demonic Dread. I mostly play this is a 3 cost instant Stone Raine.
What could Amonkhet add to Traditional Living End? Possible Additions As Foretold could fit in the deck, but I think it creates a new deck altogether. There are new cards with Cycling, and cards that care about cycling and discard, maybe those could fit?
Amonkhet continued
Split Cards The Split Card rules change may have the biggest impact on traditional Living End over any of the new cards.
