History ● The statue was commissioned in year 1909 by Carl Jacobsen. ● He asked ballerina, Ellen Price, if she wants to be model to create the statue of Little Mermaid. ● Edvard Eriksen created bronze statue, which was unveiled on 23 August 1913.

Carl Jacobsen ● He was born in 1842 and died in 1914. ● He was a Danish brewer and art collector. ● He was a son J. C. Jacobsen, which founded brewery Carlsberg. Carl Jacobsen with his wife, Ottilia.

Vandalism ● In year 1964 the head of statue was stolen. ● In year 1984 the right arm of statue was stolen.
