2 Little Fellow Daycare & Elementary School Little Fellow daycare and Elementary School was founded by Ms. Shafia Rafique and Mr. Rafique Sarhadi in OCT 2011. v. Its being 6 years of excellence by providing high quality care and education to children and their families that will assist children in all areas of their development, which gives them good foundation to progress through life.

Areas of work We are providing • Day-care services as well as education • Day-care staff trainings • Conducting workshops on pregnancy • Food and nutrition’s, health and well being • Infant & Toddler’s look after programs • Mother’s/ Parents awareness campaigns on “ECCE” as well as child development related topics • We are planning to propose on-site day-care centre facility to different organizations and companies

Our Programs 1. Day care/Early Learning Age: 3 m to 24 m 2. Part-Time Workers , Drop-Ins/After School Care/Quran Classes Montessori classes include: Pre-play group Age: 2 to 3 years Play-Group 3 -4 Junior Montessori 4 -5 Advance Montessori 5 -6 Primary Class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 6

In Pakistan what choices working parents have? Most families currently have three options for securing child care. 1. Parents care for their children by themselves especially the mother. But this is increasingly difficult, as most families now rely on two breadwinners to stay above water.

2. Parents can pay for child care out of pocket. But this approach is very costly for low-income families. 3. They need to rely on grandparents, uncles, Aunts, friends or any other relatives which ultimately high the risk of child abuse, sexual abuse, malnutrition, negligence in care etc.

Why to invest in high-quality childcare centres and early learning?

• It is essential to a woman’s ability to participate in the workforce. • These centres will help families who are living below the poverty line. • Private quality day-care centres are not truly an option for many Pakistani's, especially young single mothers, and low income families. • It is an essential way to close the achievement gap between children of different economic backgrounds and prepare them for kindergarten, primary school, and beyond.

• Decades of research have also shown that investing in our children at an early age pays social, educational, and economic dividends over the course of a child’s lifetime. • Children access to high quality childcare and early learning education will promote school readiness, regardless of their family situation.

• It will make quality care more affordable for Pakistani families and support mothers’ employment. • Affordable high-quality child care is also essential to parents’ abilities to balance work success with family responsibilities.

Recommendations v We should launch a childcare plan on National Levels. v Which will strengthen families and make them more economically secure while also reducing inequality and improving educational achievement in this country.

v Publicly funded programs will be helpful for lowincome families and mothers, but there access should not be limited and quality should not be compromised

v These centers will help needy families to provide their children with basic needs, food, medical, education, childcare and much more. v Different NGO, Government Funds, welfare programs etc to help these centers flourish and perform for the betterment of our children.
