Lithium batteries
What are lithium batteries? Lithium batteries are fast rechargeable batteries that are mainly used in phones, cars and other vehicles.
Processing After the lithium is pumped into the empty lakes. They are left there to dry out, when the lithium is in a more concentrated form it is transported to a factory where they are heated to become lithium ingots. After they become ingots, they are transported to countries that put together the parts like China and USA.
Useful life Lithium batteries last for about 2 -3 years but if it over heats it only last for a year.
What are the main component of a lithium battery? The main components in a lithium battery are: Lithium (found in Australia, America and South America Cobalt ( Congo( Africa), China) metal oxide ( China, Australia, South America)
Environmental impacts To extract the materials for the lithium batteries they need to dig underground ruining the environment , next they need to be transported to other countries (This causes green house gasses) where they will be put together.
Social problems Since lithium is extracted from the ground through a pipe, there are no problems in this, but to get the carbon, many people are forced to mine underground, majority of them are children and people who get payed very little.
