Literacy RWI Blue and Grey Groups Learning Intention HOLIDAY Tuesday We are learning to say, read and write words with the ‘cious' sound Weekly planning grid Week beginning – 18/05/20 Class- Primary 4 Activity HOLIDAY • If possible, watch your Read Write Inc daily sound video- ‘cious’. If that’s not possible, practise saying ‘cious’ out loud and writing these words with ‘cious’- precious, delicious, suspicious, ferocious, conscious, vicious. Practice spelling these words (look, say, cover)/write a sentence using each word. Get an adult to read aloud these sentences and have a go at writing them down: Why are the clothes invisible? Why did the Emperor feel miserable? . If you can, make up your own sentences using a few of our ‘cious’ words. • Read your book bag/story book using the link to the ebook online if not choose a book at home to read with an adult for enjoyment. If that’s not possible, practise saying ‘tious’ out loud and writing these words with ‘tious’-scrumptious, superstitious, ambitious, conscientious, pretentious. Practice spelling these words (look, say, cover)/write a sentence using each word. • Proofread spelling- correct 3 errors in this paragraph: The Emperor couldn't see the clothes but he pretendid to put them on. Friday Personal Project. We are learning to write for purpose. Personal Interest Project: Think about something that interests you. It should be fun as well as educational i. e a sport, book, actor… • Talk about your topic to your parents. Do they think it is a good subject? • Carry out some independent research on your chosen area and make some notes. • Write a paragraph to explain why you have chose this area/person to share with your class members/family. • This project will last 4 weeks keep your research notes in an organised way for the final project show case. Reading/Summariser Task- The BFG We are learning to summarise the main events in a story. Comprehension Task. We are learning to infer information from a text. Activity HOLIDAY • This weeks spelling list focuses adding the suffix (ous) where words ending in ‘y’ become ‘I’ and words ending in ‘our’ become ‘or’- spelling list attached to the Literacy resource sheet. • If you’re unsure of any of the words use a dictionary or ask an adult to help with the definition/meaning. • Write out each word and complete the look, say, cover strategy. • Choose 2 activities from the Literacy resource sheet. If not look back over the number talks strategies for this week and get a family member to ask you some questions using the different strategies. Weekly planning grid Week beginning – 18/05/20 Primary 4 Health and Wellbeing/Art/PE/Science Learning Intention Monday Tuesday Wednesday HOLIDAY Art (Space) We are learning to make an annotated drawing. PE We are learning to keep fit and move in sequence. Activity HOLIDAY Look back of the order of the planets from last week and listen to Gustav Holst Planet Suite again. Think/Imagine your own fantasy planet: • What would it look like? • Where would it be in the solar system? • What/who lives on it? Create your own annotated drawing of your planet- see resource sheet for an example. Challenge Create a 3 D model of your planet. Jumps-Practise some of the jumps we learned in floor gymnastics (star jump, tuck jump, straight jump and jumping onto one and two feet) – if you are inside try doing little versions of these jumps. Balances-Practise some of the balances we learned in floor gymnastics (putting one leg up behind/ in front of you and balancing on one leg). Rolls- Practice rolling forwards and backwards in a tuck position once you come out of a jump. Can you make an outdoor (or a safe indoor) obstacle course? Try to include a jump, balance and a roll sequence in your obstacle course. Share your course and sequence with your family and get them to try out your course/sequence. Thursday Friday HWB We are learning to think about our achievements. HWB We are learning to be kind to others Our school value this term is ‘achievement’, think about what this means to you in terms of your learning. Consider 3 things that you feel you have achieved over the year. Create 3 pictures of your individual achievements. We are going to create a class wordle to share all of our achievements so please add examples to Teams. • Explain to someone at home what it means to ‘fill someone else’s bucket’ and why this is important. • Make a list of all the things you could do to be kind, thoughtful or helpful to different members of your family. • Now take action! Do some of the things on your list, starting now! • Keep your list somewhere safe, so you can refer back to it, when you need to.
