Listening to Our Longings Tuning Into God’s Relentless Pursuit of Us
Every human person enters into the world looking, reaching, desiring, aching, longing for connection. Image by Clarence Goss
Not only are human persons wired for longing, we were created from longing. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. (Jer. 1: 5) For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Ps. 139) For he chose us, in him, before the creation of the world. ” (Eph. 1)

If we listening deeply enough, aided by the light of the Spirit, we can even hear our longing for God in our wounds and in our sin.
What do you hear? Envy-- disordered longing to be fully loved Vanity- longing for God’s approving embrace Greed- longing to be safe in God’s care
