Scalars and Vectors • Scalars are quantities which are fully described by a magnitude alone. – Magnitude refers to the size of a measurement • Vectors are quantities which are fully described by both a magnitude and a direction. – Direction can be given as a movement through space (N S E W) or within a coordinate plane (+ or -). – Vectors are represented visually with arrows pointing in the direction of movement.
