Steps Cont: • 3) In LIGHT pencil with a straight edge/ruler, start by drawing 3 -4 Horizontal lines across the entire page. • 4) Also using the straight edge, draw 2 -3 Vertical Lines across the entire page. • 5) Pick a simple shape or outline to draw. Draw this shape 4 -5 times. Make sure you overlap your lines with the shape. Pay attention to you composition!
While drawing your shape, remember your rules of composition: • Nothing should just be touching the edges, either go off the page or move away from the sides. • Not every item should be in the center, and not every item should be touching a side. • Going outside of the frame is ok! • If it helps you to place shapes, make a cut of the shape and move it around to find a spot that is visually pleasing to you, then trace it.
