What Does the Bible Say PREMILLENN about the Rapture? IALISM “The rapture (or ‘translation’) of the church is often paralleled to the ‘raptures’ of Enoch and Elijah. In each case, the individual disappeared or was caught up into heaven. At His ascension our Lord Himself was ‘taken up’ into heaven (Acts 1: 9). The biblical description of the rapture involves both the resurrection of deceased believers and the translation of living believers into the air to meet the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4: 16 -17; 1 Corinthians 15: 51, 52)” (Edward E. Hindson, The Rapture and the Return: Two Aspects of Christ’s Coming).

Premillennialism – The Rapture 1 Thessalonians 4: 13 -18
• "We believe that next on the program of God comes the rapture when He takes the Church out of the world. " (THE RAPTURE COMES NEXT, J. Mc. Gee, page 4).
Premillennialism - The Rapture What Is The Rapture? 1. The word "rapture" comes from the Latin word "rapare" and is translated from the Greek word "harpazo" which is translated "caught up" in 1 Thessalonians 4: 17. 2. It means, "to snatch or catch away" (VINE'S EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF NEW TESTAMENT WORDS, Vol. 1, Pg. 174). 3. The point of contention then is the Biblical concept of being "caught up" versus the premillennial concept of the "rapture".
Different Views Of Premillennialists Of The Rapture Post-tribulationism. 1. "One of the leading views regarding the rapture of the church is that this event will occur in connection with Christ's return to establish His millennial kingdom … this follows rather than precedes the time of the tribulation…" (THE MILLENNIAL KINGDOM, John Walvoord, pg. 248).
Different Views Of Premillennialists Of The Rapture 2. "This theory holds that the church will continue on the earth until the second advent at the end of this present age, at which time the church will be caught up…" (THINGS TO COME, J. Pentecost, pg. 164). 3. According to this theory of the rapture, the church will experience the great tribulation caused by the Antichrist.

Different Views Of Premillennialists Of The Rapture Mid-tribulationism. 1. "A compromise position between post-tribulationism and pretribulationism has attracted some scholars who have held that the church will be raptured before the great tribulation, but not before some of the preceding events. " (THE MILLENIAL KINGDOM, John Walvoord, pg. 250).
Different Views Of Premillennialists Of The Rapture 2. According to this theory of the rapture, the church will be on earth for the first half of the tribulation, but will miss the second half, or the great tribulation itself. 3. This position is not held by very many with dispensational premillennial ideas.

". . . only especially qualified saints will be raptured before the tribulation, and that others will be raptured during the tribulation or at its close when they qualify spiritually. " (THE MILLENIAL KINGDOM, John Walvoord, pg. 250 -251). 2. According to this theory, "good works are necessary to qualify for the rapture" (Walvoord) seeming to imply that one earns the right to be raptured. 3. Of all the different rapture theories this one is the least popular.

Different Views Of Premillennialists Of The Rapture • Pre-tribulationism. • 1. "This point of view holds that the rapture of the church occurs before the entire seven year period of Daniel's seventieth week and can be expected at any moment of any day, and therefore emphasizes the immanency of the Lord's return. " (THE MILLENIAL KINGDOM, John Walvoord, pg. 251).
Different Views Of Premillennialists Of The Rapture • 2. According to this theory of the rapture, the church will leave the earth and be with Christ before the tribulation begins and will remain there until the tribulation ends. • 3. Of all the different rapture theories, this is the most popular.

And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled? "
The two topics 1. When would the destruction of Jerusalem occur and what will be the signs. 2. When will Jesus come and bring about the end of the world and what will be the signs.
Did Jesus’ disciples think that the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the world would happen at the same time? • They were taught many times about Jesus death and resurrection yet they still didn’t understand after He died. John 20: 9 • He taught them about humans, the kingdom and the end of time in Matthew 13 and they said they understood in verse 51. • In Acts 1: 6 they were still confused about the spiritual nature of the kingdom.

See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 "All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Vincent notes that between this prophecy by Jesus in 30 A. D. and the destruction of Jerusalem there was an earthquake in Crete in 46 -47 A. D. at Rome in 51 A. D. at Apamaia in Phrygia in 60 A. D and at Campania in 41 -54 A. D. He also notes 4 famines during the reign of Claudius in 41 – 54 A. D. One of these famines are recorded in Acts 11: 28. Also an early writer named Tacitus (Annals xvi. 10 -13) describes hurricanes and storms in Campania in A. D. 65.
Matthew 24: 9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. • The apostles were beaten and put in prison (Acts 4 -5) • Stephen was stoned to death (Acts 6 -7) • There was great persecution against the church (Acts 8 --9) • James was beheaded (Acts 12: 1 -2)
Mark 13: 11 "But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 24: 10 "And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 "Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 "But he who endures to the end shall be saved. Examples in 2 Tim 2: 15, 4: 10, 16

Luke 19: 41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 "For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 "and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation. "
In the very same manner Daniel also wrote concerning the Roman Government, and that our country should be made desolate by them. (Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews, 10: 11: 7) And now the Romans, upon the flight of the seditious into the city, and upon the burning of the holy house itself, and of all the buildings lying round about it, brought their ensigns to the temple, and set them over against its eastern gate; and there did offer sacrifices to them, and there did they make Titus imperator. (Josephus, War of the Jews, 6: 6: 1)
Matthew 24: 15 Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation, ' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 "Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 "And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.
Matthew 24: 19 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 "And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. • The gates were closed on the Sabbath Nehemiah 13: 19
Matthew 24: 21 "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, nor ever shall be. 22 "And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.
A brief history: • The Jews begin to fight the Romans 66 A. D. • The Roman General Cestius surrounded Jerusalem in 66 A. D and them simply retreated for no apparent reason (Josephus war of Jews Book 2 chapter 19) • The Jews were fighting each other
A brief history: • Titus surrounded Jerusalem in 70 A. D. • The Jews barricaded themselves in and a famine begins • One women kills and eats her child similar to 2 Kings 6: 24 -30 • 1, 100, 000 Jews were reported killed and 97, 000 were captured.
Matthew 24: 23 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it. 24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 "See, I have told you beforehand. 26 "Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it. 27 "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
28 "For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. This word “eagle” or “vulture” was used in the Old Testament to describe a foreign nation coming upon the Jewish nation for punishment. " (Deut. 28: 49; Hos. 8: 1; Hab. 1: 8).
THE RAPTURE PART 4
Matthew 24: 29 " Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Isaiah 13: 10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine. See Isa. 13: 19 -20 Ezekiel 32: 7 When I put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light. 8 All the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you, And bring darkness upon your land, ' Says the Lord GOD.
Matthew 24: 30 "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 26: 64 Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven. "
Isaiah 19: 1 The burden against Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, And will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst. 2 "I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; Everyone will fight against his brother, And everyone against his neighbor, City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
Matthew 24: 31 "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24: 32 Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 "So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near -- at the doors! 34 "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.
These things: • Matthew 23: 36 "Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. • Matthew 24: 2 "Do you not see all these things? Referring to the buildings of the temple. • Matthew 24: 3 "Tell us, when will these things be? • Matthew 24: 6 See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass • Matthew 24: 8 "All these are the beginning of sorrows.
These things: • Luke 21: 26 "men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth • Luke 21: 31 "So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
Those days: • Matthew 24: 19 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! • Matthew 24: 22 "And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened. • Matthew 24: 29 " Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened …
Matthew 24: 35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Matthew 24: 36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
• Matthew 12: 36 "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. • Matthew 10: 15 "Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city! • John 12: 48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him -- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. • John 6: 44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Matthew 24: 37 "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 "For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 "and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 2 Peter 3: 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
Matthew 24: 40 "Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 "Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
Matthew 24: 42 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24: 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 "Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 "Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 "But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming, ' 49 "and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 "the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 "and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat. 25: 1 – 13 The parable of the wise and foolish virgins. Matthew 25: 13 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
Mat. 25: 14 – 30 The parable of the Talents Matthew 25: 26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 'So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 'Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 'For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 'And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. '
Matthew 25: 31 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 'I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. ' 37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 'When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? ' 40 "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. ' 41 "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 'for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 'I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me. ' 44 "Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You? ' 45 "Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me. ' 46 "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. "
THE RAPTURE PART 5
Matthew 24: 15 " Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation, ' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Daniel 9: 1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the lineage of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans -- 2 in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 25: 12 ' Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, ' says the LORD; 'and I will make it a perpetual desolation. Also see 29: 10.
Daniel 9: 3 Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 4 And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made confession, and said, "O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, 5 "we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. 6 "Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land.
Daniel 9: 7 "O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day -- to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You. 8 "O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.
9 "To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him. 10 "We have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. 11 "Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him. 12 "And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem.
13 "As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth. 14 "Therefore the LORD has kept the disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice. 15 "And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day -- we have sinned, we have done wickedly! 16 " O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins,
and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us. 17 "Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord's sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate. 18 "O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. 19 "O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name. "
Daniel 9: 20 Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God, 21 yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, "O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. 23 "At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision:
Daniel 9: 24 " Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. 25 "Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.
26 "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate. "
Daniel’s 70 weeks: weeks 1. 7 weeks 2. 62 weeks 3. 1 week 70 weeks = 490 days = 490 years Jesus’ work begins at the end of the 62 weeks The last week is the work of Jesus but He is cut off (crucified) in the middle of the week.
Premillennialist make the last week into 7 years of tribulation that happens in the future. “The antichrist enters the newly-rebuilt Jewish Temple, places a statue of himself there in the Holy of Holies, and proclaims himself to be God. From that point on he demands that all people worship him and his statue. This is the ultimate sacrilege which could happen to the nation of Israel, and is was predicted by the prophet Daniel (Daniel 9: 27; 12: 11) and Jesus Himself (Matthew 24: 15). In Jewish Terminology this is what is called “the abomination of desolation” (New World page 178 Hal Lindsey)
Daniel 9: 24 " Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.
Hebrews 9: 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
2 Corinthians 5: 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Isaiah 53 states that: Jesus would sacrifice Himself for transgression (verses 5, 8, and 12) For sin (verse 10 and 12) For iniquity (verses 5, 6 and 11)
Everlasting righteousness: Heavens plan for making mankind righteous was being made know at that time Rom. 3: 21 -26 Romans 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith. "
Visions and prophecy will be sealed up • Jesus fulfilled all prophecy written about Him • Jesus finished His work on the earth John 17: 4 • All things were accomplished John 19: 28 • All things written about Him were fulfilled Luke 24: 44
Galatians 3: 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Most holy would be anointed: Grammatically “most holy” could mean a thing or a person. Premillennialist say it refers to a future temple I believe its referring to Jesus
“Most holy” = Jesus for the following reasons: 1. The context demands it and verse 25 says the Messiah is under consideration here. 2. Anointing was practiced as a rite of inauguration for the office of a prophet (1 Kings 19: 16) a priest (Exodus 28: 41) and a king (2 Samuel 2: 4). Jesus holds all 3 of these offices (Acts 3: 20 -23; Hebrews 3: 1; Matthew 21: 5)
3. In Luke 4 Jesus ascribes Isaiah 61: 1 to himself, which states that He was anointed to preach the gospel to the poor. He received this anointing by the Holy Spirit after His baptism in Luke 3: 21 ff which began His ministry. Acts 10: 38 "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 4. The word “Christ” means anointed one.
Daniel 9: 25 "Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times. "
When the 70 weeks began: • Ezra brought back Jews from Babylon in 457 B. C. • Jesus would be cut off in the middle of the last week which = 486 ½ years from the beginning of the 70 weeks. • 486 ½ years added to 457 B. C. = approximately 30 A. D. the death of Jesus.
Ezra 9: 9 "For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem. Ezra 4: 4 Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building,
The first 7 weeks = 49 years of rebuilding Jerusalem. The 62 weeks represent 434 years leading up to the work of Jesus. Based on Ezra’s date of 457 B. C. this gives a date of 26 A. D. which fits perfectly with the beginning of Jesus’ ministry
Verse 27 fits perfectly with Jesus’ work on the earth. 1. The Messiah will be cut off. Isaiah 53: 8 speaking of Jesus says He was to be cut off. 2. The Messiah will make a covenant with many. Jesus did this. • He brought forth a new covenant as foretold in Jeremiah 31: 31 -34 • He nailed the old covenant to the cross at His death Col. 2: 14 • This is confirmed in the book of Hebrews Heb. 9: 15; Heb. 8: 13.
3. The Messiah would bring and end to sacrifice and offerings and this is exactly what Jesus did. Hebrews 10: 16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them, " 17 then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. " 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
THE RAPTURE PART 6
Topics covered part 6: 1. Passages from Revelation 2. Prophecies from the Old Testament 3. Does the rapture view really matter?
The book of Revelation is highly symbolic. For example it contains: • A dragon that is able to knock a third of the stars out of the sky with its tail • A red 7 headed beast • Oceans turning to blood • 200 million soldiers riding fire breathing horses that kill you with the sting of their tail • A harlot riding on the back of a 7 headed beast drinking the blood of the saints.
Revelation 20: 1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them.
Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Symbolism in these verses: • A key • A bottomless pit • A great chain • A dragon • 1000 years
This number 1000 is never used literally in the book of revelation Psalm 50: 10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.
Revelation 20 does not say anything about: • Jerusalem • The second coming of Christ • These events occurring on the earth • David’s throne • A bodily resurrection • Christ being on the earth • The thrones being on the earth
4 Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. They say that Christians and the OT righteous will rein with Christ for 1000 years. Based on their literal view of interpretation it should only be the beheaded Christians. Where is their constancy?
Outline of Revelation 20 1 – 3 binding of Satan 4 – 6 victorious reign of the faithful 7 – 10 the struggle to defeat the devil 11 – 15 the day of judgment
But after these things he must be released for a little while
Genesis 3: 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel. "
John 12: 31 "Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself. " 33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
The first resurrection is not a bodily one. What is it? 1. The spiritual resurrection every Christian experiences at baptism which gives you power over the second death or hell 2. Christianity emerging out this persecution and making the church stronger than ever. (Ezek 37 describes the Jews deliverance from Babylon as a resurrection)
We are reigning with Christ as priests and Kings 1 Peter 2: 5 -9 we are a royal priesthood Rev. 1: 5 -6; 5: 9 -10 we are priests and kings
Revelation 16: 12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 "Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame. " 16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. 17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"
Armageddon – Mount or Hill of Megiddo
Battles at Megiddo: • Gideon defeated the Midianites Judges 7: 1 -22 • King Saul was defeated by Philistines 1 Sam. 31: 1 -6 • Barak and Deborah defeated the Canaanites Judges 4 and 5 • A battle between King Josiah and the Pharaoh Neco 2 Kings 23: 29 -30; 2 Chron 35: 22 -24 60 Miles
Revelation shows a gathering at Armageddon but no battle takes place. This same thing happens in Revelation 19 and 20 No where in the Bible can you find the great battle of Armageddon.
Premillennialist view of Revelation 16 In the last 3 ½ years of the 7 years of tribulation: • Egypt invades Israel • Russia runs Egypt out of Israel and defeats them • The Roman antichrist takes 1 million soldiers and defeats the Russians only to find themselves in battle against 200 million Chinese. • This epic battle is suppose to take place in the valley of Megiddo which they call the great battle of Armageddon.
The word “antichrist” is never mentioned in the book Revelation This word is found in four places in the Bible. 3 times in 1 John (1 John 2: 18, 2: 22, 4: 3) 1 time in 2 John (2 John 1: 7) John says: • The antichrist denies Jesus’ deity • There are many antichrists • They were present in his day The Bible does not show the antichrist to be a political leader
Genesis 15: 18 On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: "To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates –
Deuteronomy 19: 8 "Now if the LORD your God enlarges your territory, as He swore to your fathers, and gives you the land which He promised to give to your fathers, 9 "and if you keep all these commandments and do them, which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and to walk always in His ways, then you shall add three more cities for yourself besides these three,
Joshua 20: 7 So they appointed Kedesh in Galilee, in the mountains of Naphtali, Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron) in the mountains of Judah. 8 And on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.
Joshua 21: 43 So the LORD gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
Nehemiah 9: 7 "You are the LORD God, Who chose Abram, And brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, And gave him the name Abraham; 8 You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give the land of the Canaanites, The Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, And the Girgashites -To give it to his descendants. You have performed Your words, For You are righteous. Also see 1 Kings 4: 21
Amos 9: 11 " On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name, " Says the LORD who does thing. 13 " Behold, the days are coming, " says the LORD, "When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.
14 I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. 15 I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them, " Says the LORD your God.
Acts 15: 13 And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, "Men and brethren, listen to me: 14 "Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. 15 "And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: 16 'After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up; 17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the LORD who does all these things. ' 18 "Known to God from eternity are all His works. 19 "Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God,
What they fail to grasp: • The kingdom was taken away from the Jews and it was given to a new nation which is made of both of Jews and Gentiles. • This new nation/church is described as a holy nation in 1 Peter. 2: 7 -10 • All those baptized into Christ Abraham’s seed Gal. 3: 26 – 29 are • We are the new Israel of God Gal. 6: 6 • To go back to the old system would cause us to fall from grace Gal. 5: 4
Does the rapture view matter or does it cause any harm?
2 Peter 3: 15 as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
Why their view is dangerous: • They make Jesus out to be liar • They stop and start time in prophecies at will • They turn the OT prophets into false prophets • They make Jesus out to be failure • They render several OT prophecy as being unfulfilled when the Bible shows them to have already been fulfilled • They say there are signs we can look for to know the end is near • They make predictions of Jesus coming and they fail over and over again
Yes, it does matter if the rapture view is taught.
