Lighting Learning Intentions: • I will be able to talk about why lighting and certain colours are used within performance. • I will be able to explore different types of theatre lighting. • I will be able to produce work within the time frame given.

Different types of lanterns There are three main types of lanterns usually used within a theatre: Flood Light This is the simplest type of lantern. You cannot control the focus and it covers the whole stage. Usually used for general lighting Fresnel Lantern Soft-edged spotlight. This is the most used light in theatre. Usually comes with a barn door which is used to shape the light Profile Spot Produce clearly defined spots of light. Normally used to focus on one important thing on the stage.

Danger, blood, love…etc It represents anger Now choose 3 other colours and create your version of Colour, Symbol, Image. Remember – there is no wrong answer!

Create a freeze frame that portrays your idea of this colour (Remember to consider body language, use of levels, gesture, posture, eye contact, and facial expression).
