Infancy - Birth to 1 year Physical: Weight typically doubles, growth in height, and head becomes more proportionate compared to the rest of the body. Mental: Learns through 5 senses and reflexes, learn cause and effect, imitate sounds of others. Emotional: Feel comfort when they recognize their mother, respond positively to touch, and cry when uncomfortable.

Early Childhood - 1 to 6 years old Physical: Learn large body movements and also have the ability to run, jump, and hop. Mental: Many develop language and social skills. Emotional: They start to use labels like this, that, age, gender, good or bad, short or tall, child or adult.

Late Childhood - 6 to 12 years old Physical: Grow 2 -3 inches, gain about 7 pounds per year, and skeletal bones broaden and lengthen (growing pains). Mental: Can reason logically with others, can perform concrete operations, and long-term memory increases. Emotional: Can read people’s emotions better, awareness of other people’s feelings, and can maintain close friendships.

Adolescence - 12 to 18 years old BEGINNING OF PUBERTY Physical: height, weight, body composition, many systems start to change a lot and are largely influenced by the hormonal activity. Mental: Self-centered thoughts start to decrease, they start to think with a wider perspective. Emotional: Having intense mood swings can lead to increased conflict, more self-consciousness, and mostly have a lower self-esteem of their appearance.

Early Adulthood - 18 to 40 years old Physical: Start to have great muscle strength, good reaction time, and more reproductive capability. Mental: Become more aware of complex situations, should be able to clearly distinguish right and wrong, and solving real world problems. Emotional: People often face a crisis of not knowing whether they want to be alone or in a serious relationship, people have a sense of world contribution, and people want to have kids.

Middle Adulthood - 40 to 65 years old Physical: Possible that they will have hair loss, greying of hair, wrinkles, age spots, hearing and vision loss, and weight gain. Mental: People start to have 2 types of intelligence, fluid and crystallized. Fluid is the ability to solve new and complex problems. Crystallized is the ability to use learned knowledge and experience to solve problems. Emotional: Some might lose friends, health may decline fast, and instead of looking in the past in this stage we seem to look forward thinking about the time that they have left and not what has went by.

Late Adulthood - 65+ Years old Physical Results: Skin loses elasticity, vision declines, and hearing becomes worse. Mental: memory loss, decreased intellectual function, and cognitive impairment (Alzheimer’s) Emotional: feelings of guilt because they rely so much on others, loneliness, and despair because they know they are close to death.
