Christ is raised!!! o One of the men spoke telling the women that Jesus is risen o He reminds them of what Jesus had told them in Galilee o Luke 9: 22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. " day

Christ is raised!!! o The women remember o They are told to go tell Peter and the other disciples Jesus would go to Galilee and see them there o Imagine the emotions n Fear? n Amazement? n Joy?

Christ is raised!!! o Mary Magdalene tells Peter and John o ‘they have taken the Lord and we do not know where they have laid Him’ Him o Peter and John race toward the tomb o John stops at the entrance o Peter goes in followed by John o They see the grave clothes, but no body

Christ is raised!!! o Did they not see the angels? ? o John 20: 8 Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed o Peter and John leave the tomb n What are they thinking?

Appearances of Jesus o Mary Magdalene returns to the tomb o One of the angels asks why she is weeping o ‘They have taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have laid Him’ Him

Appearances of Jesus o Jesus is behind her and speaks to her o She does not recognize Him o Jesus calls her by name, and she knows it is Him o He tells her to go tell the others o ‘I have seen the Lord’ o She was the first to see Jesus alive

Which is easier to believe? ? o A ‘man’ literally risen from the dead, or… o Disciples who stole a body to make it look like what He had said really happened… o Think about the sermon in Acts 2 just fifty days from now that would accuse them of the heinous crime of killing One that God would raise up

A thought question? ? n o s s le o Be very honest… o At this point would you have believed He had been raised from the dead? ? o Put yourself in the place of Peter or John or the other apostles n You haven’t see Him n Word is spreading that you have taken the body n What really happened? ?
