Life in the Stone Age Class Title: Grammar and Vocabulary Practice/Quiz. ESL Lesson Title: Life in the Stone Age Targeted Level: Advanced/Proficient Author: Cristina Arsene Students will play a different version of “Charades” while practising and testing their already acquired knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary. Illustrations are used as hints and symbols in order to help the students find the appropriate word to fill in the given blank spaces as well as to direct the students’ attention towards the various meanings and connotations that words and expressions can take in English. A Voki avatar will read part of the text before the Power. Point presentation is started in order to give an audio example of the intonation and accent that other English speakers, though virtual ones, can have. The game is intended to make both testing and practice more entertaining and visually attractive. Visual hints will help the students remember easier the abstract information. By analyzing the symbols and hints given by the visuals in order to find the correct solution, students use their brains on different levels. There at least four activities that are performed by the brain with the purpose of finding the correct answer: accessing already know information, analysis of new context, tranforming the symbol/hint into useful material for the answer, deciding which version is the accurate solution to the question. Objectives: Students will: 1. Practice and test their knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary 2. Learn new facts about the Stone Age period Materials: 1. Individual Handouts 2. Power.
