How Colonies Were Built: • 1. King gives permission (charter) to investors to create a company whose only purpose is to start a colony. • 2. Investors create a joint-stock company (pool resources) • 3. Company sends ships, men & supplies to new land & builds settlement. Profit split among group & king given certain % for giving them permission to build the colony!
