LIFE CYCLE OF PLASMODIUM VIVAX Presented By Smt. Arati Patro H. O. D Of The Zoology Department Khemundi College, Digapahandi
INTRODUCTION AND DISCOVERY Ø Ø Ø All the species of genus plasmodium are known as Malaria parasite as they cause the disease Malaria. Leveran , a french army surgeon first discover this parasite in 1880 in the blood of Malaria patient. LIFE CYCLE OF PLASMODIUM VIVAX The life history of plasmodium vivax occurs in two hosts , so it is digenetic. 1. The man is the primary host. 2. Female Anofheles mosquito is the secondary or intermediate host. v The life cycle is completed in two phase 1. Asexual phase occuring in man 2. Sexual phase occuring in female Anopheles mosquito v
ASEXUAL PHASE IN MAN Ø Ø Ø Asexual phase consists of a number of stages Infection stage ( Inoculation) Liver schizogony stage @ Pre erythrocytic phase @ Exo-erythrocytic phase Erythrocytic schizogony stage @ Trophzoite phase @ Signet-ring phase @ Amoeboid phase @ Schizont phase @ Formation of gamatocytes (Microgametes & Macro gamates).
SEXUAL CYCLE (SPOROGONY) IN F. A. MOSQUITO It includes a number of stages § § § Ingestion by mosquito Gametogony (Microgamates and Macrogametes ). Fertilisation Ookinate Encystment Sporogony
