History of Comics �Comics began as advertising in newspapers. Richard Outcault published the first comic in 1895 “Yellow Kid” to boost newspaper sales. �Most comics in later years became known as “The Funnies” due to their humor �The Golden Age of comic books 1930 -1950 �Generally included a hero/heroine. Included several genres: action, romance, mystery, etc.
