• They can be counted in separated units, so they can SINGULAR (1) or PLURAL (2 or more) • An apple (one apple) three apples • A glass (one glass) four glasses • An idea (one idea) two ideas. Recuerda que A o AN significan lo mismo (un – una). “A” se usa cuando la siguiente palabra comienza consonante y es singular. “AN” se usa cuando la siguiente palabra comienza consonante!

Uncountable nouns are the ones that CAN’T BE COUNTED in separated units, they DO NOT HAVE singular and plural forms. Examples of uncountable nouns are: a. Liquid: water, coffee, tea, juice, etc. b. Abstract ideas: happiness, sadness, intelligence, etc. c. Grains and powder: Sugar, salt, beans, lentils, rice, etc. d. Group nouns: furniture, money, time. Their specific items are Countable ( chair, dollar, hours, etc. e. Natural phenomena: sunlight, rain, weather, f. Gas: oxygen, nitrogen, etc. g. Substances: meat, cheese, ham, chocolate.
