PORNAINEN LIBRARY • First public library was founded 1871 by the local people. • Its activety slowely went down by the year 1915. • The municipality library of Pornainen was foundet 1944 and it started its activity 1945. • From 1999 library is located in current premises in the center of Pornainen. • Staff: library director and 2 library assistants. • This year big renovation: new floor and new circulation desk-> attention to ergonomics and well-being at work.

CELIA LIBRARY • Celia is a national center for accessible literature and publishing in Finland, working toward equality in reading and learning. Celia belongs to the administrative sector of the Ministry of Education and Culture. • Equal access to literature and information for print disabled persons. • Celia produces and distributes literature in accessible formats, such as talking books, e-books and braille books, together with public libraries and publishers. In addition to fiction and non-fiction, Celia also produces and distributes textbooks in accessible formats to all educational levels. Through the electronic service channel Celia offers about 40 000 books. • How to get access to Celia’s services? • If you have a print disability and need accessible media in Finnish, please contact your local library to assist you. The service is free for it`s users!
WHO CAN USE CELIA? • • • If reading an ordinary book is difficult for examble due to: Visual impairment Dyslexia Impaired vision Illness or injury which makes difficult to read printed book Temorarily poor perfomance Organisations whose users include persons with print disabilities Poor Finnish language skill is not a reason to use Celia! Today Celia serve approximately 30 000 users through public libraries, academic libraries and other institutions.
TEACHING TO USE CELIA LIBRARY First the customer makes an appointment in her/his local public library with the libray`s Celia contact person • Marianne is the Celia contact person in Pornainen library. • Before the appointment I register the customer, so she/he gets the user id to the Celianet (online service, streaming service and download service). • Book time about one hour to teach to the customer how to use Celias services. • Ask the customer to bring the device she/he is going to use. • Show to use Celinet and Pratsman Reader. • Pratsam Reader is a program that allows you to listen to books (Get PR from Google play and App Store for free) • If the customer do not want (or cannot) use computer, smart phone etc, show the opportunity to listen audio books as mp 3 format.
HOW TO REACH THE PEOPLE WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO USE CELIA SERIVSES? • • • Talk to the teachers Go to the parent`s evening Go to Senior info Find out what kind of organisations are in your municipality After the customer borrow an ordinary audio book and you'll see that he/she is entitled to Celia's services take the matter sophistication to speech • Ads in magazines (has to be clear) • Put the ad to library audio book shelf • Go talk to every place about Celia where you are asked to
