Lexington County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Training The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) in cooperation with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Lexington Police Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will host a waterborne operations training class on Wednesday, August 26 on Lake Murray. The training will include teaching tactical operations officers how to deploy into water from helicopters and boats. Officers will jump into Lake Murray from helicopters that will be operated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and SLED. The aerial deployments of tactical operations officers into Lake Murray will be conducted in two-man, threeman, four-man and six-man teams, Metts said. The goal of the training is to enhance the readiness of tactical operations officers with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Lexington Police Department to conduct waterborne tactical operations.
