You also must know the difference between base words and suffixes. The blue boxes contain the base words. The yellow boxes contain the suffixes. Remember. Suffixes come at the end of a word.

When a base word ends in silent-e, drop e before adding a suffix that starts with a vowel. If the base-word ends in a silent e, you drop the silent e when adding a suffix starting with a vowel. X biter NO doubling!!! X taping
