Summary • Steps to create a Lewis Structure: 1. count the number of valence electrons 2. least electronegative atom is placed in the middle 3. set up a skeleton of the structure 4. draw a single bond in between each atom 5. count the amount of valence electrons left 6. make each atom have an octet, remembering the rules of single, double, triple, and lone pairs 7. count the number of electrons in your final product to ensure you’ve drawn a correct structure

Homework • With a partner or group, create a movie in windows movie maker for an assigned Lewis structure • Groups can have no more than four people • Be as CLEAR and creative as possible • Feel free to add sound through the movie program • Example: • HCO 3 • You do not need to be as specific, but make sure that you’ve explained how to create your Lewis structure

Instructions • In paint, or another media creatable program, illustrate each step for the creation of your structure • Open windows movie maker or another compatible program such as imovie • In windows movie maker, push import media and upload the images • Drag them into the storyboard below • You can customize transitions and settings • If you wish to add sound to the visuals, you may do so through tools, narrate timeline • Upload to the wikispace page named Lewis structures using the given password and login
