3. How to complete the Project Report • Describe the situation and your role/responsibilities - Choose one in which you made a personal contribution and where you learnt something that you could apply in the future - Try to use a different situation for each requirement - Substitute company / individual names with generic alternatives • Explain the actions you carried out, and how you demonstrated the required behaviour - Avoid unnecessary use of jargon. Overly technical answers to the questions are unlikely to be highly rewarded - You should clearly and concisely describe your own personal contribution rather than that of your team 8 © ICAEW 2019
3. How to complete the Project Report • Evaluate your effectiveness - What you did well and where you could improve - A good evaluation will be balanced and honest, identifying positives and negatives • Describe your lessons learnt (that could be applied in the future) - What you would do in the future in a similar situation, bearing in mind what you learnt from the situation 9 © ICAEW 2019
3. How to complete the Project Report • Word count - Capped at 4, 000 words, excluding the words that are already in the Project Report template. - We recommend that you write no more than 800 words for each skill/behaviour. - Allocate sufficient words to address each of the requirements of each question, for example: - description of the situation; - explanation of your actions; - evaluation of how effective you were; and - description of lessons learnt. 10 © ICAEW 2019
4. Examiner tips • Read the guidance at icaew. com/projectreport • Use a specific situation, not a general or theoretical situation • Only use one situation for each question • Use ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘my’ not ‘we’, ‘the team’, ‘the firm’… • Use plain English and short sentences • Proof read your answers! Marks are available for well written submissions Structure your answer around the four requirements of each question – consider use of headings to make this even clearer 11 © ICAEW 2019
