Why doesn’t this always work ? Robyn Merkel-Walsh 040820 8
Some children need auditory cues………. Vacuum sound (z) Popping sounds (p ) Roaring sound (r) Hissing sound (s) Ticking sound (t) Some ideas from : Caroline Bowen www. speechlanguage-therapy. com 9 Robyn Merkel-Walsh 040820

TIPS! Only do the sounds that apply to your child. Have your tools handy as well as a mirror. Your speech binder/book will tell you what tools your child uses and how many times they are currently on (ex. Horn #1, 13 x). Have a dump bucket or plastic bag ready to discard dirty tools. Write notes as you go to send to the child’s SLP. Robyn Merkel-Walsh 040820 14
Note : do not use vibration tools with children under the age of 1 or who have seizure disorders X Robyn Merkel-Walsh 040820 X 15
Tool Care: o The tools cannot be placed in the dishwasher. You must hand wash the tools with a germicide. Pure Green 24 is best and can be purchased at Amazon or Talk. Tools. Spray the tools and allow ten minutes then wash with hot soapy water EXCLUDING battery operated tools. o Battery operated tools (Sensi® and Zvibe ) can be wiped down with rubbing alcohol (70% ethanol) and then wiped with a damp paper towel. o All tools must be left out to dry completely before being placed in a CLEAN bag. If the tools are placed in wet bag, mold will form and we will have to discard the tools. Robyn Merkel-Walsh 040820 16
