Setting the Stage • motivate the student by portraying the context of the new learning material in a meaningful and appealing way • engages students with the beginning of the “story” to come, which can involve an interesting unfolding of events or interest in the task or performance they are working to accomplish • intrigues the students and whets their appetite for the learning experience
