能 néng vs. 会huì “a capacity of doing something”：会 我会说中文。 in negative sentence 能 会 我们上课不能说太多英文。 (We can’t speak too much English in class. ) 我不会说中文。 (I don’t know how to speak Chinese. ) (不)能： “can” or “can’t” do something due to circumstance. (不)会： “can” or “can’t” do something due to one’s ability.
