Lessons 7. 6 • How do you solve percent application problems? – To solve percent application problems, you will multiply the percent by the price to find sales tax, tip, markup and discount. – You will then either add or subtract to find a sale price, retail price or total cost.
Lessons 7. 7 • How do you solve percent problems using the percent equation? – Write the percent equation. – Substitute the values you know. – Solve for the unknown variable. – Remember, of means multiplication and is means equals.
