What is an adjective? An adjective is a describing word. It describes the noun. The boy opened the door. The frightened boy opened the ancient door.
What is an adverb? An adverb is also a describing word. It describes the verb. The boy opened the door. The boy carefully opened the door.
Putting it all together When we combine adjectives and adverbs it can really bring improve a sentence. The boy opened the door. The frightened boy carefully opened the ancient door.

Task Yesterday we imagined ourselves as Howard Carter and wrote diary entries leading up to finding the tomb. Today we are going to bring that scene to life, writing it out as a descriptive, atmospheric narrative. Using our wonderful descriptive vocabulary and punctuation skills, we are going to write out this special moment as if we were there.
Task These are the steps in the story you need to follow. 1. Walking down the steps 2. Exploring inside, along the corridor. 3. Finding Tutankhamen’s first door. 4. Journey to the tomb I carefully walked down the ancient, sandy steps and entered the dark and dusty corridor. The stone walls had strange markings carved into them. There were cobwebs and the scuttle of rats feet everywhere. I carried a flaming torch which helped me find my way. Suddenly, I saw a _____door. It was engraved with _____ My trembling hand reached down and gently pushed the door open. I slowly peered inside. There in front of me was another doorway. This one was sealed. Looking carefully, I noticed tiny cracks on the stony surface. Grabbing my small axe, I cracked a tiny hole in the doorway. There in the next room was the most wonderful sight! All I could see were ___ We must be getting close to Tutankhamen’s tomb!
