LESSON 43: Moroni Teaches Faith in Jesus Christ

PURPOSE To encourage each child to exercise faith in Jesus Christ.

I Know That My Redeemer Lives • 1. I know that my Redeemer lives. What comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives, he lives, who once was dead. He lives, my ever-living Head. He lives to bless me with his love. He lives to plead for me above. He lives my hungry soul to feed. He lives to bless in time of need. • 2. He lives to grant me rich supply. He lives to guide me with his eye. He lives to comfort me when faint. He lives to hear my soul’s complaint. He lives to silence all my fears. He lives to wipe away my tears. He lives to calm my troubled heart. He lives all blessings to impart.

• 3. He lives, my kind, wise heav’nly Friend. He lives and loves me to the end. He lives, and while he lives, I’ll sing. He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King. He lives and grants me daily breath. Faith is things which are hoped for and not seen

• In Ether 12: 6 we read: • 6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that afaith is things which are bhoped for and cnot seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no dwitness until after the etrial of your faith.

• What things would you like to see that you haven’t? • How do you know that they exist? • For example, Can you see air? • How do you know air is there? • Even though we have not seen Jesus Christ with our own eyes, how do we know that he lives? • What does it mean to have faith in Jesus Christ? – To have a strong enough belief in Jesus Christ that we obey him and seek to become like him.

• What are some ways Jesus Christ can help you if you have faith in him? – He can give you comfort – Direction – Peace – Strength – healing

• The Scriptures teach us about many people who received great blessings and performed miracles because of their faith in Jesus Christ. • This is what our lesson is about today.

LESSON 43: Moroni Teaches Faith in Jesus Christ

• Jesus Christ said, “If ye will have faith in me, ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me” • As we discussed earlier, we can know that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen. • We should not dispute what we can not see, for we will receive no witness until after the trial of our faith.

• As we have discussed in previous lessons, by having faith in our heavenly father and in Jesus, when we humble ourselves before them, they will make us strong, they will bless us with the talents needed based on our faith. • When we need our heavenly father’s help, how should we ask of it? – In Prayer • We have been told, “Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold, it shall be done unto you. ”

This week we will see a movie about some of the people that had the faith they needed to be part of Christ’s miracles. Let’s watch the movie “Finding Faith in Jesus Christ” Watch Movie Discussion Questions

• What did Jesus Christ say we will receive if we have faith in him? (Moroni 7: 33. ) – “We will have the power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me. ”

• What did Moroni teach about how to receive a witness, or testimony, of the gospel? (Ether 12: 6. ) – “faith is things which are hoped for and cnot seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith. ” • What does it mean to have a “trial of your faith”? – To have your faith tested in some way.

• Everyone has weaknesses. • In what ways can having faith in Jesus Christ help us overcome our weaknesses? (Ether 12: 27. ) – my cgrace is sufficient for all men that dhumble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak things become strong unto them.

Studying the scriptures: • As you learn about Jesus Christ and what he did, you will develop greater love and faith in him.

Praying: We can ask Heavenly Father to help strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ.

Obeying Jesus Christ’s teachings: Obedience to his commandments brings happiness and peace.

The Fourth Article of Faith says: 4 We believe that the first principles and aordinances of the Gospel are: first, b. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, c. Repentance; third, d. Baptism by eimmersion for the fremission of sins; fourth, Laying on of ghands for the hgift of the Holy Ghost. T

• Faith comes from knowing and trusting. • To develop faith in Jesus Christ we must come to know him. • Name one thing you know about Jesus Christ and how knowing these things help you to have faith in him. • Write them on the chalkboard. T
