What do companies do to get you to choose their product? • Brand loyalty- “I only wear Nike shoes” • False image- If you smoke, you will be cool (KOOL) NOT! • Bandwagon- everyone else uses this product NOT! • Humor-catchy jingle, hooks you • Glittering generality-appeal to emotions, you need this to live, you must have it NOT! • Scientific evidence- uses data from surveys or tests-where did the data come from? • Progress-the newest model • Reward-special prize or gift, but that’s not all • Sex-sexy people, product will make you more attractive • Testimonial- it worked for me, no evidence
