Lesson 3: Restoration of the Remnant https: //www. dalraida. org/2019/12/01/isaiah-winter-2020/
God’s Faithful Remnant • God promised Abraham that all generations would be blessed (Gen. 12: 3) • God continued to keep His promise • Moses first mentioned the concept in Deut. 4: 27 -31 • The remnant was preserved through God’s providential care
Isaiah’s Use of the Remnant • Persistence in Sin • God is faithful in honoring Promises – Consider Isaiah’s emphasis on Abrahimic and Davidic covenants! (7: 2, 13; 9: 6 ff; 11: 1 ff; 22: 22; 29: 22; 41: 8; 51: 2; 55: 3 -5; 63: 16) • Survivors of the apostasy – Those who cling to God – The faithful of God’s church (Romans 9 -11)
The “Remnant” • The “new” Israel • Always remains (Hebrews 12: 28) • Keeps the Church present until Christ’s Return • Only ones to be saved • Only the faithful in the “Kingdom” (Church)
Identifying Traits of Remnant • Citizens of God’s Kingdom (2: 2 -4; 9: 6 -7; 11: 11 -16; 16: 5; 25: 6 -9; 32: 1 -4; 56: 7) • Called by God’s Name (4: 1 -6; 43: 7; 65: 15)
Today’s Culture • Are some ashamed to wear God’s Name? • Is it uncomfortable to maintain that one must wear God’s Name? • Will some replace God’s Name to entice more?
Identifying Traits of Remnant • Citizens of God’s Kingdom (2: 2 -4; 9: 6 -7; 11: 11 -16; 16: 5; 25: 6 -9; 32: 1 -4; 56: 7) • Called by God’s Name (4: 1 -6; 43: 7; 65: 15) • Comforted by God’s Redemption (11: 1 -10) • Complemented by God’s Crown (28: 5 -7)
There is an obvious contrast between those who are among God’s “remnant” and those who are worldly (28: 5 -7)
Restoration of the Remnant • Shrouded in dignity and honor. • Following God’s rules provides a beauty, honor, and dignity.
This message should cause us to carry swiftly this good news to all who have not yet obeyed the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The prophetic word that Isaiah spoke reminded the people that the faithful remnant would be preserved!
Wonderful Blessings! “In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and the adornment of the survivors of Israel…he who is left in Zion…will be called holy—everyone who is recorded for life in Jerusalem…the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion…then the Lord will…be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection. ” (Isaiah 4: 2 -6)
