Weighing scales The WEIGHING SCALES tell how heavy or how light the materials are. WEIGHT- is the heaviness or lightness of a material.
Weighing Scales The dealers of rice, corn, mongo, flour, sugar, feeds and other products use a different type of weighing scale.
Weighing Scale -This is a special weighing scale for people. - This scale gives the exact and accurate weight of a person.
Platform Balance - Is made up of two round flat pans on both sides with a calibrated instrument connecting the two pans where a flat rectangular metal is attached to it. - It is used by jewelry stores, and those that perform experiments in laboratories.
Note: ØTo be able to measure the weight using a platform balance, the material to be measured is placed in one pan and the metal(s) with a given weight is placed on the opposite pan. ØIf the two pans are balanced, then the weight of the metals(s) represents the weight of the material. ØNotice that when you measure a mass of any material or people, you use the unit gram(g) or kilogram(kg). ØThe weighing scales indicate units in grams, kilograms, or pounds.

How do you measure the volume of objects with an irregular shape? v. The volume of objects with irregular shape is measured by using the water displacement method.
Displacement Method -Is generally used when measuring the volume of irregularly shaped solids that sink in water.
How do you measure the volume of objects with an irregular shape? 1. Fill the beaker with water up to the last measuring line, then immerse any solid with an irregular shape in it. 2. Some amount of water overflowed from the beaker. Remove the object and get the measurement of the water left.

The volume of the solid is the difference of the recorded amount of the water left and the actual measurement recorded expressed in cubic milliliter. v. The volume of water and other liquids is measured using any graduated cylinder or container using the unit’s liter or milliliter in cubic.
