WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY? • “ The selected use of essential oils and related products

WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY? • “ The selected use of essential oils and related products of plant origin with the general goal of improving health and well-being. ” • Essential oils are “products obtained from natural raw materials by distillation with water or steam or from the epicarp of citrus fruits by a mechanical process or by dry distillation. ” • Essential oils are administered by Inhalation, external application, or rarely by ingestion

HOLISTIC AROMATHERAPY • Combines aromatherapy with massage • Oils are usually diluted at low

HOLISTIC AROMATHERAPY • Combines aromatherapy with massage • Oils are usually diluted at low doses (0. 5%-2%) • Client is encouraged to participate in the selection of the oils • Oils are blended in groups to create an overall pleasant fragrance and effect on the body • Home use of the designed oil-blend is encouraged • Main risks of this type of therapy are dermatitis, and mucous membrane irritation.
