Lesson 2: First Exploration… “Gods of the Myth World”

Discussion • What god are you reading about right now? What does he or she represent? What is he or she in charge of? • What is the personality of this god? What is he or she like? • Would you describe this god as good or bad? Moral or immoral? Or maybe something in between? • How do gods interact with one another and with other immortal beings? • How do gods interact with mortals?

Review: Zeus • Chapter 1: What were the ingredients of Rhea and Zeus’ potion? • “They mixed mustard and salt with the nectar. ” • Chapter 2: Aside from his brothers and sisters, who did Zeus get to help him win the war against the Titans? • “Here Cronos thousands of centuries before (a short time in the life of a god) had pent up other monsters, the one-eye Cyclopes and the Hundred-handed Ones. ” • “Zeus unshackled these ugly cousins and led them against the Titans. ” • “But Zeus had laid a trap. Halfway up the slope of Olympus, he whistled for his cousins, the Hundred-handed Ones, who had been lying in ambush. ”

Lesson 2: First Exploration • When you uncover all of the characters in the sky, you will be taken to a “mission select” screen to choose which artifact you want to collect for the class. • Once you complete the Olympus challenge, you will be awarded the winged sandals and will be allowed to leave Olympus. From here, you will choose one of three challenges to complete.

Getting Off Olympus Once you read all of the main Olympus stories, you’ll be allowed to fly off Olympus to another part of the world of your choosing. Once you get off Olympus, from here on, you will be splitting up. To do so, go to the progress screen and click (look for the lightning bolt) in the top left corner. Here is your password…

Choose Your Path • Heracles Path: downontheground • Athene Path: overthesea • Hades Path: underyourfeet • Keep in Mind: The Final writing response involves Apollo or Hermes. Therefore, you should complete one or the other before choosing a challenge.
