LENT Week 6 MONDAY EVENING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Let your ways be known upon earth, All your saving power among the nations.

Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

As we behold your Son, enthroned on the cross: All stir up in us the fire of your love.

May we be cleansed from all our sins, All and walk with you in newness of life.

May we sing the praise of him who died, All for us and for our salvation.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 71 part 2 (Good News Translation)

14 I will always put my hope in you; I will praise you more and more. 15 I will tell of your goodness; all day long I will speak of your salvation, though it is more than I can understand.

16 I will go in the strength of the LORD God; I will proclaim your goodness, yours alone. 17 You have taught me ever since I was young, and I still tell of your wonderful acts.

18 Now that I am old and my hair is grey, do not abandon me, O God! Be with me while I proclaim your power and might to all generations to come.

19 Your righteousness, God, reaches the skies. You have done great things; there is no one like you.

20 You have sent troubles and suffering on me, but you will restore my strength; you will keep me from the grave.

21 You will make me greater than ever; you will comfort me again. 22 I will indeed praise you with the harp; I will praise your faithfulness, my God.

On my harp I will play hymns to you, the Holy One of Israel. 23 I will shout for joy as I play for you; with my whole being I will sing because you have saved me.

24 I will speak of your righteousness all day long, because those who tried to harm me have been defeated and disgraced.

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

Faithful Lord, living Saviour, in youth and old age, from the womb to the grave, may we know your protection and proclaim your great salvation to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

21 Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away. You will look for me, and you will die in your sin. You can’t come where I am going. ” 22 This made the Jews ask, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, ‘You can’t come where I am going’? ” 23 But Jesus said, “You are from below. I am from heaven. You are from this world. I am not from this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins. This will happen if you don’t believe that I am he. If you don’t believe, you will certainly die in your sins. ” 25 “Who are you? ” they asked. “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning, ” Jesus replied. 26 “I have a lot to say that will judge you. But the one who sent me can be trusted. And I tell the world what I have heard from him. ” 27 They did not understand that Jesus was telling them about his Father. 28 So Jesus said, “You will lift up the Son of Man. Then you will know that I am he. You will also know that I do nothing on my own. I speak just what the Father has taught me. 29 The one who sent me is with me. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: All for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. Christ himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, All that we might die to sin and live to righteousness: by his wounds we have been healed. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.

PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks

For the leaders of the nations: that you will guide them in the ways of mercy and truth.

All Lord Jesus Christ, you humbled yourself in taking the form of a servant, and in obedience died on the cross for our salvation: give us the mind to follow you and to proclaim you as Lord and King, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
