LENT Week 4 MONDAY EVENING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Hear our voice, O Lord, according to your faithful love, All according to your judgement, give us life.

Blessed are you, Lord God of our Salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

In the darkness of our sin, you have shone in our hearts: All to give the light of the knowledge of your glory in the face of Christ.

May the knowledge of your presence free us from sin and shame, All that we may grow into your likeness from glory to glory.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.

THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life

PSALM Psalm 14 (Good News Translation)

Fools say to themselves, “There is no God!” They are all corrupt, and they have done terrible things; there is no one who does what is right.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven at us humans to see if there any who are wise, any who worship him.

3 But they have all gone wrong; they are all equally bad. Not one of them does what is right, not a single one.

4 “Don't they know? ” asks the LORD. “Are all these evildoers ignorant? They live by robbing my people, and they never pray to me. ”

5 But then they will be terrified, for God is with those who obey him. 6 Evildoers frustrate the plans of the humble, but the LORD is their protection.

7 How I pray that victory will come to Israel from Zion. How happy the people of Israel will be when the LORD makes them prosperous again!

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

God of heaven, look with mercy on all who are consumed by ignorance and greed, and let the children of earth know that you are God for ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

41 Jesus said to them, “Why do people say that the Messiah is the son of David? 42 David himself says in the Book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand 43 until I put your enemies under your control. ” ’ (Psalm 110. 1) 44 David calls him ‘Lord. ’ So how can he be David’s son? ” 45 All the people were listening. Jesus said to his disciples, 46 “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in long robes. They love to be greeted with respect in the market. They love to have the most important seats in the synagogues. They also love to have the places of honor at banquets. 47 They take over the houses of widows. They say long prayers to show off. God will punish these men very much. ” (Luke 20. 41 -47; NIr. V)

Sincerity and truth are what you require, All fill my mind with your wisdom. Remove my sin, and I will be clean, All wash me, and I will be wither than snow. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All Sincerity and truth re what you require, fill my mind with your wisdom.

PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks

For the leaders of the nations: that you will guide them in the ways of mercy and truth.

All Lord God, your Son, our Saviour gave his back to the smiters and did not hide his face from shame: give us grace to endure the sufferings of this present tie with sure confidence in the glory that shall be revealed; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
