(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Hear our voice, O Lord, according to your faithful love, All according to your judgement, give us life.
SONG ‘We are yours’
Blessed are you, Lord God of our Salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
In the darkness of our sin, you have shone in our hearts: All to give the light of the knowledge of your glory in the face of Christ.
May the knowledge of your presence free us from sin and shame, All that we may grow into your likeness from glory to glory.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life
PSALM Psalm 39 part 2 (Good News Translation)
9 I will keep quiet, I will not say a word, for you are the one who made me suffer like this.
10 Don't punish me any more! I am about to die from your blows.
11 You punish our sins by your rebukes, and like a moth you destroy what we love. Indeed we are no more than a puff of wind!
12 Hear my prayer, LORD, and listen to my cry; come to my aid when I weep.
Like all my ancestors I am only your guest for a little while.
13 Leave me alone so that I may have some happiness before I go away and am no more.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
O Christ, Son of the living God, help us when we are too cast down to pray, and grant that we may trust you all our days, for you are with us in our living and our dying, Jesus, Lord our God. Amen.

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember what happened in your lifetime. You received your good things. Lazarus received bad things. Now he is comforted here, and you are in terrible pain. 26 Besides, a wide space has been placed between us and you. So those who want to go from here to you can’t go. And no one can cross over from there to us. ’ 27 The rich man answered, ‘Then I beg you, father Abraham. Send Lazarus to my family. 28 I have five brothers. Let Lazarus warn them. Then they will not come to this place of terrible suffering. ’ 29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have the teachings of Moses and the Prophets. Let your brothers listen to them. ’ 30 ‘No, father Abraham, ’ he said. ‘But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will turn away from their sins. ’ 31 Abraham said to him, ‘They do not listen to Moses and the Prophets. So they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead. ’ ” (Luke 16. 25 -31; NIr. V)
Give me again the joy that comes from your salvation, All and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach sinners your commands, All and they will turn back to you. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All Give me again the joy that comes from your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
For peace and justice in the world: may a spirit of respect, reconciliation and compassion grow among nations and peoples.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All Lord God, you have renewed us with your word; by it, you nourish our faith, increase our hope, and strengthen our love: teach us always to hunger for Jesus, your Word made flesh, and enable us to live by every word that comes from out of your mouth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG ‘The same love’
