Social media has a big impact on our students lives. While students are in school, their main focus should be getting their education and learning. The internet and social media should not be focused on too long while they are in the school environment. Facebook and Social Media Boundaries must be made. Educators have to separate their personal lives from their professional lives, so students should not follow educators on social media in order to respect their privacy. Students communicating with teachers on Facebook can either have positive or negative effects. Social media must be used appropriately by students and educators.

Emailing and Texting Just like social media and all other media outlets, emailing and texting should be used with caution. Unfortunately there has been a history of students using emailing and texting to bully and harass other students. It is important to monitor what children are sending out to other people but, respecting their privacy is most important. However, if a student is suspected of bullying and harassing other students via emailing and texting then, they should be thoroughly investigated.

Plagiarism and Copyright In college students can get expelled for plagiarism. That is why it is important to teach students not to plagiarize so that they will not have to face any consequences. Also, it is morally wrong to take someone’s hard work and try to portray it as your own. Students should have a conscience when it comes to stealing. Ultimately it is the student’s responsibility to make sure that they do not plagiarize. Copyright can lead to legal consequences just like plagiarism can.

 Educators should encourage their students and everyone to be kind to each other

Educators should encourage their students and everyone to be kind to each other on the internet in order to avoid emotional trauma towards victims or cyber bullying. Cyberbullying Grace’s Law is a law that takes action against cyber bullying and those who commit cyber bullying. I personally believe that the law is very necessary. Cyberbullying misconduct can have a tremendous impact on students mental health, it can drastically impact their performance in class. Cyberbullying is not something that should go unnoticed.
