How do we detect Academic Dishonesty and how deal with it One case in ‘EP 003 Academic Writing’ – focus on text types, essay, report o ‘Ghost writing’ – could not PROVE to the student they did not write it. Although quality content, structure, writing skills did not match previous or subsequent submissions Accepted task – as one part of overall assessment Strategies in our Units: ‘Referencing’ – focus on purpose, styles & formats o ‘Referencing’ - demonstrate new skills, suitability & understanding of HE environment - fulfilment of Assessment requirements

Group project emphasises individual and group accountability for creating elements Example: ‘EP 003 Academic Writing’ 1. modelling with annotations, and include explanation of generic structure and language features of texts 2. Progress drafts sighted & initialled in tutorials with feedback
