LEARNING STYLE • The VAK model is divided into three different learning styles depending on how the person receives and process the information: • Visual – see it • Auditory- hear it • Kinesthetic- do it
VISUAL LEARNER • Prefer to see words written down • Prefer visuals, diagrams • Prefer written instructions over verbal instructions • Enjoy making their assignments colourful, and decorating • Studies material by reading notes, and organize in outline form • A useful strategy is highlighting
AUDITORY LEARNER • Remembers what they say, and people say very well • Verbal repetition is a key to learning • Learn through discussing ideas • Remember verbal instruction • Have difficulty working in quiet environments (need music, or other background noise when working) • May have a keen interested in drama or music • Enjoys group discussion • Useful strategy is to speak out loud when trying to learn a new topic
TACTILE OR KINESTHETIC LEARNER • Learn by doing • Enjoy making and creating • Learn better by acting the study topic, rather than study notes • Have trouble sitting still • Tend to want to eat while studying • Tend to fiddle with objects when listening • Will take notes to keep busy • Useful strategy for studying would be index cards
