Learning objectives What do you know about Energy
Learning objectives What do you know about ‘Energy’ What do you know about ‘Energy transfer’
What is Energy is the ability to do work or make something. Energy can not be created or destroyed BUT can only be TRANSFERRED or STORED!
Types or Forms of Energy Heat Light Sound Kinetic (movement) Store of Chemical Electrical Gravitational Elastic (potential)
Sources of Energy All forms of energy are stored in different ways, in the energy sources we use every day. These sources are divided into 2 groups. The sources of Energy come from Nature
Sources of Energy Renewable An energy source that can be replaced in a short period of time. Non – Renewable An energy source that we cannot replace.
Renewable Energy Sun Wind Geothermal Biomass (plants) Water
Non-Renewable Energy Oil Coal Natural gas Nuclear
Energy Transfer Energy transfer is when a form or type of energy is changed to another form or type by something. Such as store of chemical energy in a cell/battery transferred to light and heat energy by a torch. We call the energy that is stored or goes in , the Input energy. While the energy that is changed to is called the Output energy. When energy is transferred, some of the energy turns into forms we don't want. This energy is called wasted energy. Wasted energy takes the form of heat and sometimes sound or light. During any energy transfer, some energy is changed into heat. The heat becomes spread out into the environment.
Have a go! Batteries have Store of C……… energy The flashing lights on my front have L………. . . Energy. E………. . . energy When you put batteries into Wall e what does this energy ‘transform’ / turn into? With my wheels I can travel using K…………. . Energy.
Waaaall eeeeeee! In order for me to be able to carry out my litter picking job – I need Enegy! Tell me what types of energy I can ‘transfer’ it into! Good luck!
What are the energy transfer taking place in these cars
