Starter: seeing the mark scheme • You each have a generic (applies to every question) mark scheme • Figure out where YOU need to get to as a minimum, highlight and define what all the words in your mark band say, this is what you must do • • Grade A: 10 Grade B: 9 Grade C: 7 Grade D: 6 What do you need to do? Include evidence in the form of studies in your essays even if we don’t ask you to ALWAYS use POINT EVIDENCE and EXPLAIN for evaluation DON’T just leave all your A 02 until the end, evaluate THROUGHOUT as you go along DISCUSS: this can mean APPRAISE means make positive evaluations – what are the strengths? DISCUSS: this can mean COMPARE to another explanation or theory – how is it similar / different? DISCUSS: this can mean CRITICISE – what are the limitations? DISCUSS: this can mean APPLY e. g. applying your knowledge to a scenario based essay DISCUSS this can mean General analysis – for example, considering the implications of findings or theory

Accessing AO 2 marks in 12 -mark answers All 12 mark answers have 4 marks for knowledge and description and 8 for discussion/analysis.
