GLOSSARY Healing Pathway Analysis(HPA) (page 10) A structured and facilitated event during which a crossfunctional team progresses methodically through a series of interactive and evaluative steps aimed at eliminating waste, eliminating impediments to healing and improving the flow of patients through the healing pathway. Quick Changeover (page 182) Method of reducing materials, skilled resources and time needed for equipment setup to implement a one-piece flow in a cost effective manner. Rapid Improvement Event (RIE) (page 210) A facilitated, structured, team-based event aimed at further refining and actually implementing improvements to portions of a value stream. Rapid Improvement Newspaper (page 162 -163) A tracking tool used to ensure completion of actions identified during an RIE that cannot be completed during the actual event.
