League of legends backround � League of legends a multiplayer (5 vs 5) online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The game was first announced on October 7, 2008, and released on October 27, 2009. According to a 2012 Forbes article, League of Legends was the most played PC game in North America in terms of hours played As of January 2014, over 67 million people League of legends per month 27 million per day. The game has even spawned championships called the LSC where professionals play for the league of Legends world cup.
Summoners Rift The area you will be playing on may vary. Summoners rift, howling abyss, and ascension are maps you may play on depending on what game mode you will play. Towers defend each lane(18 in all), inhibitor, and the each nexus. Minions will spawn at for both teams-trying to take tower. If you decide to try out a jungle champion, you will have to defeat the jungles monsters. Wolves, golems, wraiths, lizards, and ghouls are stationed in certain parts, usually in numbers or with allies. Key monsters the dragon and Baron Nasher, but you will probably need your team for them. Bushes are also the key to ambushes, hiding, recalling( going back to base), or just plain
Lanes � League features three “lanes” which your champion will have to push through to get to the enemy nexus. . These lanes are top, middle, and bottom lane. Each lane is set up differently to be suited for different champions. Bottom lane will always have two people(attack damage carry ADC and support). Besides that, only top may have a second person, but than the team has no jungler.
Champions League of legends features a handful of champions with their own passive and controllable abilities to help you defeat the enemy team. Each champion is better at certain lanes. Some champions cost more than others due to being harder or just plain betters than the others. New champions are usually the most expensive. You can customize champions if you buy new skins for them.
Positions � Lane champions main goal is to protect their towers and destroy while destroying the enemy’s. Certain lanes are made for certain champions so your lane will be chosen by the champion you play(usually) If they need help, allies from other lanes or the jungler will come your you aid(If not GG surrender at 20). An example of a lane champion is ADC Vayne. � Jungle The jungler’s main roll is to “gank” (kill) enemy champions when there allies are in trouble or need someone to finish their foe. However, before they can do this, they need gain experience defeating monsters from the jungle. Getting red(fire) and blue(mana) buffs will increase your chance of survival and help insure a successful gank. An example of a jungler would be the champion Udyr. Shop is for buying items with gold to make your champion stronger, consumables such as health boosts, armor, and stealth wards. Each item has its own unique ability, usually a passive. Some items have active abilities that ware off over time. Items are essential to win the game.
League of legends championship Series The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) is a professional League of Legends competition run by Riot Games, consisting of 2 leagues (North America and Europe) with 8 teams from each. Each season consists of two splits, where each team plays every other team 4 times in round in a round-robin play. It concludes with a play-off between the top 6 teams of each continent, with the top three teams from each continent winning a spot into the League of Legends World Championships.
