LBT Q 2 2007 Engineering Review TAL Telescope
LBT Q 2 2007 Engineering Review TAL Telescope Alignment.
Highlights (Q 2/2007) Arrived (06/13) One night looking at LBC Blue images (06/21 -22) 2
Open Issues Technical LBC alignment can be improved I need training in operating the camera and a refresher course in UNIX “Wall-eye” of PMs and other system flexures need to be quantified and checked against available correction ranges of optical elements Developing alignment plans Schedule T. B. A. , A. S. A. P. Financial Acquisitions currently being considered: Laser tracker, retrocapable alignment telescope Resource Assistance from within engineering group and John Hill 3
Progress (Q 2/2007) Can see way to improve image quality on LBC blue, producing alignment procedure together with John Hill. Still assimilating a large amount of information. Have Zemax models of various LBT modes. Meeting tomorrow to help with the laser tracker purchasing decision 4
Planning (Q 3/2007) Finalize LBC alignment procedure and improve image quality to the point that seeing limited images (on good nights) are achievable. Procure alignment equipment Finalize and “publish” up-to-date Zemax models of various LBT modes Continue with investigation of tolerances and compare results to measured system performance Work with software on collimation/pointing etc. 5
